Cypress After 5 brings some of the finest musical talents in the country to Clarendon County in an annual concert series, presented by The Cypress Foundation of Clarendon Health System and sponsored by numerous corporations, area businesses and local citizens.

From January to April, the sell-out series brings more than 300 people on Friday nights to the commons area of the Cypress Center, Clarendon Health System’s health and wellness facility located behind Clarendon Memorial Hospital on Highway 260 in Manning. Patrons enjoy a wide array of musical offerings, from listening to a 46-member chamber orchestra to dancing to big band tunes from a bygone era. As an added feature, patrons look forward to attending a reception prior to each concert, featuring delicious foods prepared by Clarendon Health System’s own chef-in-residence.

Now in its sixth year, the series has featured many well-known entertainers and musicians, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Loretta Holloway, Gwen Hughes and the Retro Jazz Cats, The Tams and Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs.

“There are limited cultural opportunities in our area, and this musical celebration gives us the opportunity to bring outstanding entertainment to our community,” said Ed Frye, chief executive officer of Clarendon Health System, who came up with the idea for Cypress After 5 in 1999.

Tickets for the series are sold each fall, with past season ticket holders getting first priority to buy them before they go on sale to the general public. Proceeds benefit The Cypress Foundation of Clarendon Health System.
